Public Statement on Police Violence Against KF Tërnoci Players 

Statement:

The Democratic Institute MOSAIC expresses deep concern and strongly condemns the violent actions of police forces against the players of KF Tërnoci, which occurred after the match in Bosilegrad.

Scenes in which police raided the players’ locker room, detained, and beat Albanian athletes are unacceptable and intolerable in a democratic society. Sport should unite people, not become an arena for violence, intimidation, or discrimination.

Such incidents are not only an attack on individuals but also on the spirit of interethnic coexistence and the dignity of the Albanian community in Serbia. These actions divide communities, fuel tensions, and seriously undermine the values of a healthy society.

The Democratic Institute MOSAIC calls for an immediate investigation, transparency, and accountability for those responsible. We urge state institutions, human rights organizations, and the public to not remain silent in the face of such injustices.

Violence has no place in sport!
Discrimination has no place in a democratic society!
